YOUTH AND JUNIOR FOOTBALL TEAMS

Here are a few photos of some of the Kerikeri 12th Grade Rep Team that travelled to Auckland for an all girls tournament. The girls in the photos stayed at the Millennium Centre Lodge which also hosted the South African netball team. The South African girls ‘clicked’ with our girls and you’ll see in one of the photos they are hamming it up. The forever creative Keri girls set up an autograph signing venue and had all the South African line up to sign. No one escaped (including the Managers).
It was a fantastic experience for both teams and warm friendships endured during the stay.
The ‘informal’ tournament held on Sunday consisted of 6 all girl teams playing a round robin competition. The Kerikeri Football Club fielded 2 teams as did Eastern Suburbs and the Fencibles of Pakuranga. Kerikeri Blue won their 4 games against the hosts with Kerikeri Black winning 2 and drawing 2. The Keri teams then played each other and in a tight game the score ended at nil all. The teams ended tournament first and second respectively. The 12th grade Kerikeri rep teams played exceptionally well and were highly regarded by their Auckland counterparts.
